COVID19 (Coronavirus) is a temporary crisis, not long-term. It’s important to plan ahead, in particular if you want to gain Permanent Residency and Citizenship in Australia.
All Australian authorities are still operating: Department of Home Affairs, skills assessment authorities, etc. For example, the Department of Home Affairs is still accepting visa applications (from both onshore + offshore) and is processing visas.

If you are onshore: it’s important that you stay lawful which means don’t let your visa expire without applying for a new visa.
